Course Highlights
The Eugene Marathon course is one of the most historically meaningful routes in American distance running. Starting and finishing at Hayward Field on Agate Street, the course sends runners through the University of Oregon’s iconic neighborhoods, south along E Amazon to Frank Kinney Park, and back through the university campus before joining the Ruth Bascom Riverbank Path System along the Willamette River. The half marathon loops west in Alton Baker Park before returning to Hayward Field for a finish 200m on the track. Marathoners extend into Springfield before the triumphant track finish.
Race Details
The 2027 Eugene Marathon weekend takes place April 23-25, 2027. The event sold out in both 2024 and 2025, making early registration essential. Why Runners Love It
No city in America has a deeper connection to distance running than Eugene, Oregon — Track Town USA. Training under the legendary Bill Bowerman at the University of Oregon, Steve Prefontaine helped define American distance running, and his spirit animates every step of this course. Finishing on the Hayward Field track — where Pre ran his final race, where Olympians compete, and where running history was made — gives runners chills regardless of their finishing time.
Race-Weekend Tips
