SUMMARY:Cooper River Bridge Run
DESCRIPTION:The Cooper River Bridge Run is one of the largest and most iconic 10K races in the United States\, drawing more than 30\,000 runners and walkers each spring to Charleston\, South Carolina. The signature stretch of the course takes participants across the spectacular Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge — an 8-lane cable-stayed bridge soaring 186 feet above the Cooper River\, connecting Mount Pleasant to historic downtown Charleston. \nCourse Highlights\nThe race starts in Mount Pleasant and immediately heads toward the Ravenel Bridge. As runners climb the long incline of the bridge in the early miles\, they get sweeping panoramic views of Charleston Harbor\, the USS Yorktown\, downtown Charleston steeples\, Patriots Point\, and the South Carolina low country. The descent off the bridge into downtown is one of the best feelings in U.S. road racing. The course finishes near Marion Square in the heart of historic Charleston\, where runners are greeted by a massive finish-line festival. \nA World-Class 10K\nThe Cooper River Bridge Run is a USATF-certified course and a regular destination for elite American and international 10K runners. It’s also famous for its broad inclusivity — costumed runners\, walkers\, charity teams\, families\, school groups\, and first-timers all share the course. Few races blend such a competitive elite field with such a festive community vibe. \nRace Details\n\nLocation: Mount Pleasant → Downtown Charleston\, SC\nNext Date: Saturday\, April 3\, 2027\nStart Time: 8:00 AM (multiple corral waves)\nDistance: 10K (6.2 Mile)\nField Size: 30\,000+ participants\nIconic Feature: Run across the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge\nCategory: Road Race — iconic\, destination\n\nPair It With a Charleston Weekend\nMost runners make a weekend of it — historic Charleston is at its best in early April with mild weather\, blooming gardens\, fresh-caught seafood\, and walkable cobblestone streets.
