The absolute highlight of the race occurs between miles 6 and 9\, where participants enter the world-famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Runners have the unique opportunity to complete a full 2.5-mile lap around the iconic oval track\, including the tradition of kneeling to kiss the “Yard of Bricks” at the start/finish line. Along the way\, participants pass through the historic town of Speedway and are cheered on by nearly 50 course entertainment acts\, including live bands\, dance squads\, and spirited volunteers.
