SUMMARY:Timberline Trail Marathon
DESCRIPTION:Course Highlights\nStarting near the iconic Timberline Lodge on the south slopes of Mount Hood at 6\,000 feet elevation\, the Timberline Trail Marathon offers one of the most dramatically alpine running experiences available in the Pacific Northwest. The course traverses the Pacific Crest Trail corridor\, descends through old-growth forest\, crosses swift mountain streams\, and winds through wildflower-filled meadows in the Zigzag and Sandy River drainages. Snow is common on upper sections even in June\, adding to the high-mountain atmosphere. Views of Mount Jefferson\, Mount Adams\, and the Hood River Valley accompany runners throughout. \nRace Details\nThe 2026 Timberline Marathon weekend takes place June 6-7\, 2026. The marathon is offered on Saturday with a start time of 8:30 a.m.\, while the half marathon runs on both Saturday and Sunday with a 9:30 a.m. start. The venue is staged at the Clackamas Lake Historic Ranger Station on the flanks of Mount Hood. Registration is through RunSignup. This intimate race is hosted near one of the most legendary mountain venues in the Pacific Northwest — Timberline Lodge\, a National Historic Landmark built by the WPA in 1937. \nWhy Runners Love It\nRunning on the flanks of Mount Hood\, Oregon’s highest peak and most iconic mountain\, is a genuinely alpine experience that most road runners never access. The combination of historic Timberline Lodge\, Mount Hood’s permanent snowfields\, wildflower meadows\, and the grandeur of the Pacific Crest Trail makes this one of the most photogenic race courses in the state. The modest field ensures a personal\, non-crowded experience on the mountain. \nRace-Weekend Tips\nHigh altitude demands conservative pacing\, especially early in the race. Dress for all weather — June on Mount Hood can mean sunshine\, fog\, wind\, and light snow within the same morning. Trail shoes with traction are required. Timberline Lodge’s Ram’s Head Bar and Cascade Dining Room offer extraordinary post-race recovery options. Book lodging at Timberline Lodge or in nearby Government Camp well in advance — this mountain area is extremely popular in June. \nRun on Oregon’s most iconic peak — register at RunSignup.
