The half marathon course is as flat and fast as they come — near-zero elevation change, cool November air off the water, and unobstructed views of the ocean and bay for every mile. Race Day Experience
This race commits fully to the party. Every participant receives a Hawaiian shirt or dress — yes, you’ll be running in aloha style. Finish line festivities include a California Beach Party with a live band and beer garden. The Taku Drummers perform along the course, adding an unexpected burst of energy when you need it most. Finisher medals are shaped like surfboards. It’s one of the most festive post-race experiences at any San Diego road race. The beach area has ample parking, but arriving early on race morning is recommended. Imperial Beach to the south is also a worthwhile exploring if you’re making a weekend of it.
