Series Overview
The Austin Distance Challenge is the ultimate Texas running journey — a structured five-race series that takes runners from the Daisy Dash 10K in October all the way to the Austin Marathon or Half Marathon in February. Organized by the Austin Runners Club for nearly three decades, the series attracts runners of every level who want accountability, community, and a goal to chase through Austin’s best racing season. The 2025–26 series spans October 18, 2025 through February 15, 2026; the 2026–27 series kicks off October 18, 2026.
Race Schedule
The five races in the Full/Half Track are: (1) Daisy Dash 10K — October 18, 2026; (2) Run For The Water 10-Miler — November 8, 2026; (3) Decker Challenge Half Marathon — December 13, 2026; (4) Spurs Austin International Half Marathon — January 17, 2027; (5) Austin Marathon or Half — February 14, 2027. Sprint Track runners compete in 5K distances and the Spurs Austin International Half Relay. Mixed Track allows virtual race options for those who travel.
What’s Included
Distance Challenge registration unlocks discounted entry to all five races, commemorative magnets at each finish, community runs at TacoDeli throughout the season, a DC Finisher’s Party with food and a drink ticket, and the near-legendary custom Distance Challenge Finisher’s jacket for Full and Half Track completers. A leaderboard tracks all registered participants after each race, fueling friendly competition across age groups.
Why Runners Love It
The Austin Distance Challenge turns what might otherwise be five separate races into a cohesive training journey with built-in community. The Distance Challenge tent at each race provides bag check, magnets, and a meeting point for participants to cheer each other on. The progressive distance structure — from 10K to full marathon — is designed to naturally prepare runners for their goal race, making it ideal for both newcomers to long-distance running and veterans seeking structured accountability.
