The SKECHERS Hot Chocolate Run Chicago is the flagship event of the nationwide Hot Chocolate Run series and one of the most popular cold-weather road races in the Midwest. Known as “America’s Sweetest Run,” it draws tens of thousands of runners to downtown Chicago each fall for a chocolate-themed celebration that turns Grant Park into a giant outdoor party. Offering 15K, 10K, 5K, and 2-Mile Walk distances, it’s designed for every level — from competitive runners chasing a Chicago-skyline PR to families and first-timers running for the post-race chocolate fondue.
Course and Atmosphere
The course starts and finishes near Grant Park and rolls past the Chicago Riverwalk, Buckingham Fountain, Millennium Park, Soldier Field, and the Museum Campus, giving runners a moving postcard of downtown Chicago. Streets are completely closed to traffic, so you get the rare experience of running right down Columbus Drive and along the lakefront with the Lake Michigan shoreline on one side and the Chicago skyline on the other. The flat, fast course makes it a great option for early-season goal racing.
