If you’re a running enthusiast, the Toronto Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k & 5k is one of the most highly anticipated events on the running calendar. Every year, thousands of runners from around the world come to Toronto to participate in the event, which is renowned for its scenic routes and fantastic crowd support. So, whether you’re a seasoned runner or a first-timer, you won’t want to miss out on the action. Here’s everything you need to know about the Toronto Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k & 5k, including race course information and sites to see.

1) The Race Courses:

The Toronto Marathon is a full 42.2 km (26.2 mile) course that takes runners through the city’s downtown heart, highlighting some of Toronto’s most iconic sights. Starting at the iconic Nathan Phillips Square and winding through Chinatown, Little Italy, and the Entertainment District, the course showcases Toronto’s diverse neighborhoods. Runners will also get to enjoy scenic views of Lake Ontario on the Martin Goodman Trail as they approach the finish line.

The Half Marathon, a 21.1 km (13.1 mile) shorter version of the full marathon, has a different route that follows the eastern part of the city. Runners will run past The Beaches, Rosedale, and ultimately finish at Ontario Place Boulevard.

The 10k, a 6.2-mile race, starts and ends at Ontario Place Boulevard. Runners will run west towards Humber Bay Park, a picturesque spot with a beautiful view of Toronto’s waterfront.

Finally, the 5k race features a route towards the epicenter of the event, the Exhibition Place Grounds.

2) The Scenic View:

As for attractions that runners will get to see, one of the biggest highlights is the CN Tower, one of the tallest structures in the world. It’s a familiar sight that runners will see during the entire race. Another iconic sight is the drastic mix of architectural styles from Old Toronto buildings like city halls to modern buildings like the Tom Patterson Theatre. Runners will also get to enjoy the beautiful scenic views of Lake Ontario as mentioned before, which provides runners a scenic respite from the bustling city. The route also traverses various neighborhoods, allowing racers to catch a glimpse of Toronto’s vibrant culture.

3) The Event Weekend:

As the marathon, half marathon, 10k, and 5k take place throughout a weekend, there’s more than just races for runners and families to enjoy. The event typically features an expo, where vendors offer a wide range of running-related gear and goodies. There is also a variety of music acts, food trucks, and entertainment performances.
