Course Highlights
The Statesman Cap10K launches from the iconic Congress Avenue Bridge with sweeping views of Lady Bird Lake and the Austin skyline. Runners travel west through downtown, past the newly renovated Waterloo Neighborhood Park & Amphitheater at mile one, then wind through the University of Texas campus before descending back toward Riverside Drive. The course finishes with a wide, crowd-lined stretch into the Finish Line Festival at Vic Mathias Shores — dual finish lanes let runners pour in side by side, soaking in the roar of tens of thousands of spectators.

Why Runners Love It
With nearly 50 years of history, the Cap10K is more than a race — it’s an Austin rite of spring. Corporate teams, costumed fun runners, elite competitors, and first-timers all share the same start line in a city-wide celebration. The event regularly draws runners from across the nation who want to experience Austin’s unique blend of competitive racing and festival energy. April mornings in Austin are among the most pleasant of the year, making for ideal 10K conditions before summer heat sets in.
Heat & Logistics Tips
April in Austin can surprise runners with temperatures climbing into the high 70s by midmorning, so seed yourself in the earliest corral you qualify for. Hydration stations are well-stocked along the route. Parking around Congress Avenue fills quickly; consider the MetroBus or a rideshare drop-off near Palmer Events Center. Post-race, the Finish Line Festival at Vic Mathias Shores features food, music, and sponsor activations — arrive early to claim a good spot on the lawn.
